The Florida Keys chain consist of approximately 1700 islands that begin off
the southeastern tip of the
Florida peninsula in a
crescent shaped archipelago beginning about 15 miles south of Miami, and
extend in an arc south-southwest and then westward to Key West. The southern
tip of Key West is just 90 miles from Cuba.
The main chain of Keys are accessible by car on
what is known as the overseas highway, A 127-mile section of
US Highway 1,
Which runs from Key West to
Maine in its
entirety.

The Seven Mile Bridge
One of the
longest bridges when
it was built, The
Seven Mile Bridge
connects
Knight's Key where
the city of
Marathon is located
in the Middle Keys to
Little Duck Key in
the Lower Keys. Almost true to its name, The piling-supported concrete
bridge is 35,862 ft or 6.79 miles (10.93 km) long. The current bridge
bypasses
Pigeon Key, A section
of the old bridge still remains for access to the island.

This
fabulous place in paradise where
the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea meet
is often called the Conch Republic or Florida's Caribbean islands. The
weather is sub-tropical. There are miles of beaches for sun worshipers,
swimmers or wind surfers. World class fishing is always available for
anglers looking for the catch of a lifetime. Diving and snorkeling in warm
crystal clear azure waters cannot be passed up. Key Largo, Islamorada,
Marathon, Big Pine, the Lower Keys, and Key West have an abundance of
attractions that are sure to delight visitors and residents regardless of
their hobbies, interests or passions.
